An early SC is a brilliant option for someone who yearns for the classic 911 experience and look but doesn't want to sacrifice too much modernity.

The 3.0 litre fuel-injected engine gives modern sportscar performance (Porsche quoted the top speed as 'more than 140mph'!) with turn-key any weather useability. The brakes are servo assisted for easier stopping and the rear track is wider for more confident handling. It's a very easy car to drive, whether pottering round two or attacking a B-road and it handles with a response and accuracy that belies its age.

And a late 70s example like this looks just about perfect, especially in a bright period colour scheme like Minerva Blue with tan interior and without the brash spoilers of the Sport equipped cars.

This car was delivered in January 1979 by Heddell and Deeks of Bournemouth and has covered just 80,000 miles since with a comprehensive specialist service history (serviced 26 times in total, despite averaging under 2500 miles per year) and a wonderfully thick folder of receipts.

Its most recent owner was a specialist Porsche engineer back at his first home in South Africa and although now working in a different field since moving to the UK he has always kept a passion for air cooled cars. In his ownership he has attended to the trim to make it as good as you see it here and has carried out a meticulous top-end engine rebuild. When we say meticulous, we mean meticulous. The level of detail recorded during the rebuild is incredible. Everything has been documented photographically, by way of receipts and with detailed drawings of the engine identifying every component that was replaced. Parts were bought directly from Porsche in Reading and it now runs with a smoothness and sweetness that needs to be experienced to be appreciated.

The car has been repainted in its life and looks exceptionally bright. There are a couple of imperfections in the paint on the off-side, but probably nothing dramatic enough to warrant rectifying unless you are seeking perfection.

This aside it's a really pretty little car that's quick, perfect to drive and seems to us to offer excellent value compared to pre-74 cars.

Late 70s 911s won't be this price forever.
