Porsche 911 964 Carrera 4 - £18,995 

A good 964 is hard to find. We reject far more than we buy, and probably more than any other generation of 911.

But when you do find one they're a joy - the perfect blend of classic 911 looks and character with modern comforts such as power steering, ABS and, in the case of this car, air conditioning.

It was delivered new by Porsche Swindon on the 1st of August 1992 in splendid Amazon Green (you're right, it does look more like blue) with contrasting Linen leather with red piping. It was nicely optioned for such a car including a sports steering wheel, M030 sports suspension, air conditioning, sports seats and electric sunroof.

It has covered 92,000 miles with a comprehensive service history, incoluding a major service at local specialist Autostrasse in Septemer 2011, and is in correspondingly good shape throughout. Early 964s can suffer with engine issues at this sort of mileage, but this car has no such concerns. The results of a leakdown and compression check can be made available if a buyer was to require reassurance.

Everything on the car works as it should and it drives superbly well.

The four wheel drive system on the Carrera 4 makes it a year-round useable car, they even go surprisingly well in the snow, but it also adds the security of extra traction during normal driving and means the legendary 911 oversteer is harder to provoke than normal. Perhaps not ideal if you're Bjorn Waldegard, but a very welcome benefit for the rest of us.
