Porsche 911 PS Clubsport Build 12 - £49,995
This is the original PS Club Sport. Built as our prototype and demonstrator in 2007 and having covered just under 8,000 miles since.
The Clubsport is built around the belief that 'less is more' and captures the spirit of Porsche's iconic 2.7 RS at a fraction of the price and with improved performance, handling, braking, reliability and corrosion resistance.
This car is based on a 1983 shell, completely stripped to bare metal, with all components and underseal removed and then rebuilt from the ground up with a focus on creating a perfectly balanced lightweight performance 911.
It is fitted with a handbuilt, lightened and balanced 3.0 litre engine, fitted with PMO caburetters, 964 camshafts and a stainless steel exhaust system system. The character of the motor echoes that of the early cars, revving freely and eagerly with a brilliant hollow induction bark, but it produces more power and torque than a 2.7 giving usefully quicker performance throughout the rev range.
The gearbox is a rebuilt 915 with a limited-slip differential and the suspension is lowered and uprated with fast-road geometry.
Extensive weight saving measures include plexi-glass windows, bespoke lightweight aluminium bonnet, lightweight GRP engine lid and bumpers, low-drag GRP mirrors, lightweight carpet, lightweight dash, lightweight door cards and lightweight period style bucket seats. Plus removal of all sound deadening and underseal. The ticketed weight of the car is 980kg with half a tank of fuel.
The interior features a full roll cage with removable door bars, prototipo sports steering wheel and competition harnesses.
The car is finished in Porsche Gulf Orange with matt black decals, window surrounds and wheel centres and looks absoultely stunning both on the road and on track.
The lightweight and high performance means it is easily capable of humbling much more expensive and newer machinery, indeed its likely power-to-weight ratio of 240bhp/tonne comfortably eclipses the 964 RS (205bhp/tonne) and pips a 993 RS (236bhp/tonne). Add to this the improved stopping you gain from the lighter weight and you have a genuine GT3 chaser both on the road and round most British circuits.
The purpose of this car was always to make it quick and light but to also ensure useability on the road. It will sit comfortably in traffic, attack a B-road with vigour or blast down to the south of France without fuss. It really is an exceptional machine.
Included in the full price is a UK trackday with one-to-one tuition from Porsche Championship winner Paul Stephens so the new owner can learn how to get the most from this endlessly enjoyable little car.
