VEHICLE DESCRIPTION

The 3.2 Carrera was launched in October 1983 and although similar in appearance to the outgoing SC, had numerous technical improvements to improve driveability, refinement, and performance.

Most notable was the new 3164cc engine that featured a digital motronic 2 electronic (DME) management system and a new Bosch LE Jetronic fuel injection to raise power from 204BHP to 231BHP. This not only gave a 10% improvement in fuel economy, but the top speed also increased from 146mph to 152mph.

Electric seats replaced the manual items in the SC, the heating system was improved, and the interior featured more luxurious materials. In October 1986, a significant change was made with the introduction of the G50 gearbox which further improved refinement and ease of driving. It is these models that are the more desirable cars today.

We are very pleased to offer this lovely 1989 C16 UK specification RHD 3.2 Carrera Sport coupe for sale, originally supplied by JCT 600 of Hull to a Mr Tim Healey on the 1st March 1989, Mr Healey chose a classic 80s colour scheme of guards red with black leather interior, the combination it is still presented in today. It was specified as a genuine Carrera Sport with electric sunroof, electric sports seats, heated electric mirrors, electric windows and being an 89 model features the desirable rear wheel upgrade to 8”x 16”. It was also fitted with a Blaupunkt Toronto radio cassette and it is a delight to see this original unit still fitted today.

We last supplied the car a year ago to the current owner but prior to him, a wing commander had owned this example for the past 10 years and there have been just 7 keepers in total from new. Having now just turned onto 80,000 miles, it is hard to believe this Carrera is now 34 years old, as it performs and presents like it may have done in its early life, the interior, being quite exceptional.

For the nostalgic enthusiast who remembers Margaret Thatcher at the helm of our country, `Licence to Kill` was the latest Bond movie and the coolest kid on the block drove a Porsche 911, this as an opportunity to wind back to 1989, rekindle your youth with `Raw And Cooked` by the Fine Young Cannibals playing in the original Blaupunkt Toronto and indulge in an analogue daily driving experience that owners of modern cars can only dream of.

From the year of first registration, this 911 was fully serviced up until 2009 and then kept in secure, dry storage for a period of 8 years while the wing commander was stationed in Germany. It was brought out on his return in 2017 for a full recommission including service, a new clutch, engine tin ware and starter motor.

Definitely an upper tier example of the 911 Carrera Sport Coupe that was previously supplied by us, fully prepared and serviced and shall be again for the next owner.
