Le Mans Classic Clubsport

A car created to celebrate ten years of the Le Mans Classic, a fusion of period and modern 911. An officially-licensed limited edition of just 10 individually numbered cars, boasting many unique features and built with the famous passion and perfectionism of Paul Stephens Autoart.

Powered by a 300 bhp, 3.4 litre air-cooled flat six, the attention to engineering detail includes a new cross shaft-less ITB injection system with GT3 plenum, a programmable ECU mapped in house, RS specification camshafts, a lightened and balanced crankshaft, lightweight conrods, and a lightweight flywheel mated with a Getrag G50 gearbox and limited slip differential.

With a kerb weight as low as 970 kg in Lightweight specification, it offers a greater power-to-weight ratio than the new Mission E concept and sprints from 0-60 mph in 4.4 seconds before hitting a top speed of 170mph. Each example will be finished in 2018 Carrara White metallic with contrasting Le Mans Classic stripes and details. As a further nod to history, it will be available in either M471 Lightweight or M472 Touring form.

The world’s oldest and most prestigious endurance sports car race, top of the wish list for every racing driver. A high-speed mix of technical circuit and closed public roads, a gruelling challenge for cars, teams and drivers alike.

While the Le Mans 24-Hours provides the history, the Le Mans Classic tells the story. Created by the Automobile Club de l’Ouest and Peter Auto almost 20 years ago, the combined magic of blower Bentleys from the 30s, Ford GT40s and Ferraris from the 60s, Porsche from the 70s and 80s, plus other famous marques all competing in one event, has ensured Le Mans Classic's position as a red letter day in the historic calendar.

Just ten numbered examples of the hand-finished Paul Stephens Le Mans Classic Clubsport will be released, marking the ten outstanding Le Mans Classic events to date; every one being an inspired celebration of a revered classic.

Conceived in collaboration with event organiser Peter Auto, delivery to the lucky owners will take place at the next Le Mans Classic in 2020. The handover process will be as special as the model itself, with each owner being invited to parade their car and partake in a famous Le Mans start ritual in front of the historic racing enthusiast crowds.

The Paul Stephens Le Mans Classic Clubsport is available in an accommodating Touring specification or, for buyers looking for a more focused machine, a true Lightweight specification.

Forgoing some of the more luxurious trappings, this Lightweight specification pares the car back further through the use of lightweight carpets, the removal of sound proofing, Lexan rear windows and the installation of manual front windows, the deletion of central locking and the use of no-tilting lightweight seat frames. Even the glove box door has been removed and the car is fitted with just a single sun visor.

Hundreds of hours have been lavished on the bespoke interior, of the M472 Touring. The ST-style touring seats are trimmed in black leather with unique Le Mans Classic houndstooth inserts in green, black and white. These are mirrored by the fully trimmed and hand stitched leather interior panels, houndstooth door pockets with green boucle floor mats and aluminium foot plates. Le Mans Classic green door pulls, seat belts and bespoke dials, with a 24-hour clock complete the detailing; and, as a nod to its touring credentials, each car features a luggage box mounted in place of the rear seats. As a finishing flourish, both M471 and M472 each of the ten editions comes with a specially commissioned Le Mans Classic luggage set and hand painted Le Mans Classic bodywork detailing.

“This is an exciting car: you’re never free of raucous sound track either, the screaming flat-six and the popping on the over-run.”
— 911 Porsche World

“It’s a car that rewards the driver, a car that is engaging and involving, demanding and endearing, in the best tradition of classic drivers cars.”
– Total 911

“It’s pretty sensational. By melding classic Porsche personality with a dose of modern performance and usability the Le Mans is arguably the perfect 911 for today’s roads.”

“If Porsche made a classic GT3 Touring then I’d hope that it would be something like this car.”
