The 3.2 Carrera was launched in October 1983 and although similar in appearance to the outgoing SC, had numerous technical improvements to improve driveability, refinement, and performance.

Most notable was the new 3164cc engine that featured a digital motronic 2 electronic (DME) management system and a new Bosch LE Jetronic fuel injection to raise power from 204BHP to 231BHP. This not only gave a 10% improvement in fuel economy, but the top speed increased from 146mph to 152mph too.

Electric seats replaced the manual items in the SC, the heating system was improved, and the interior featured more luxurious materials.

In October 1986, a significant change was made with the introduction of the G50 gearbox which further improved refinement and ease of driving. It is these models that are the more desirable cars today.

We are pleased to offer this 1989 3.2 Carrera for sale finished in the classic combination of jet black with linen leather, it was supplied by AFN Guilford on 21.04.1989 and has covered 118,000 miles since new.

Being an 89 model, it not only has the desirable G50 gearbox, but was supplied with the one year only 6” and 8” Fuchs alloy wheel option which are still in great condition. The rear engine cover has had the spoiler removed to give a purer shape and the electrically operated hood is in excellent condition with no visible marks and a clear rear window.

The black exterior similarly presents in above average condition and belays this cars total mileage, as does the interior, which after a professional retrim of the front seats and general light refurbishment, presents in near perfect condition. It passed through our pre sale inspection, with a few small notable items to be rectified at point of sale and an excellent cylinder leakage test, with all recording under 10%, plus it was also noted that a new complete clutch assembly was fitted 13,000 miles ago, both great news for the next buyer.

This car was purchased from us by a husband and wife as a `keeper` in very solid and useable condition in 2020, with aim to improve the car to their liking and they have spent nearly £8,000 doing this. Unfortunately, ill health struck after Covid and this car can no longer be enjoyed as intended, hence its very reluctant sale.

The 3.2 Carrera perfectly combines classic 911 air cooled styling with a dependable and easier driving experience, particularly when fitted with the G50 gearbox. This is a sharp looking final year production example, complete with a solid maintenance history and arguably the best colour combination, presented in above average condition.
